The "Head of the Dragon" motorcycle ride completes the Body of the Dragon series of rides in Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee and now West Virginia! The "Head of the Dragon," McDowell County, West Virginia joins: Back of the Dragon, Tazewell and Marion, Virginia and Claw of the Dragon, Southwest Virginia, and Tail of the Dragon, North Carolina and Tennessee. If you like outdoor drama's try out "Terror of the Tug" an outdoor drama written by: Jean Battlo, a local McDowell County, West Virginia playwright. The outdoor drama is performed each July/August at the McArts Amphitheather, located off Route 52, in Welch, West Virginia. Berwind Wildlife Management Area

Berwind Wildlife Management Area consists of 93 acres in the park area and 18,000 acres of rugged mountain terrain and hardwood forest. Berwind Lake is equipped with eight primitive camp sites (each is equipped with a picnic table, lantern post, and charcoal grill), the lake grounds have a picnic shelter and designated hiking trails.
